It's been a long time coming so to speak for Liv Roth. In just her 3rd competition she is doing her pro debut. Last year her body was fighting her because of several variables that were tough to control.

Now we are back in Houston, Texas and Orlando, Florida in this video as Liv prepares to step on the professional stage for the first time.

Bryan Troianello is super happy with how hard she worked to get to where she is. "She woke up this morning looking the best she's looked for her pro debut."

Liv is set to take the stage with Ivana this Saturday with a massive Europa Orlando crowd. Definitely out of my comfort zone" but as we all know, that is where you GROW!

Having that "killer instinct" where you are eager to make the play, put in the work or make big moves without looking back usually cant be taught. USUALLY.

That particular killer instinct is a daily urge that isn't dependent on energy or motivation levels. It is born in the pit of your stomach and takes up the most space in your conscious mind. The killer instinct can only be satisfied with legit progress towards what you really want in life and it takes a real hunger to progress because its never easy.

We checked in with Jon Irizarry, now that he is 8 weeks out from competing at the 2021 NPC USA Bodybuilding Championship, to see how his training is going, the amount of food he's eating and other insights to his prep.

I want to introduce myself to you, since I in the beginning of 2021 I signed as an athlete for GASP and Better Bodies.

My name is Calle and I am 27 years old. I am married, and live in Stockholm. I have a teacher degree, but work full time as a PT / coach (@FlexPT.se on Instagram) and that this year I am opening one of Stockholm's largest and most modern gyms; Flex Fitness Farsta. (@FlexSverige on instagram). I competed in Classic Bodybuilding for the first time in 2012, and since then there have been about 20 competitions. On my list of accomplishments I have 3 gold as a Swedish Champion, 1 Nordic gold + overall, 1 silver from the European Championship and I got to the finals at the World Championships.

In 2020 and now in the 2021, I went all in to win a professional card in Classic Physique and make my debut in Bodybuilding -90 kg. Unfortunately, both competition preps have been canceled due to the current situation in the world. But I keep pushing and see if there will be any opening in the near future, with the eyes on the PRO card!

The passion for this sport and my training drives me forward and I love this lifestyle!

I will put full focus on the gym and the PT bit for a few years to come. I love this lifestyle, the routines, the progression, the people you meet and get to know, that you learn something new and develop every day! I love bodybuilding, and am both fascinated and motivated by people who go all in for what they really want to do. I love my hour in the gym where you can put everything aside and just get to it!

My letter combinations are a strength in life and adversity has made me where I am today.

As a person, I have my letter combinations, which entails an extreme "all-or-nothing" in most things in life. There is no middle ground. Sometimes it can put me in situations that get a little tricky, but most of the time, adversity also breeds success and you have to try, dare to invest and dare to fail in order to succeed even better next time, in my opinion. I have had some setbacks in life, just like everyone else, but clichéd enough I can say that I probably would not be where I am today, if it were not for these setbacks.

Get To Know Calle Bolund

Join us as we get to know Louis Moylan from UK. Louis trains out of Kings Gym, Croydon. He is the British National Champion of Classic Bodybuilding and his training partner is IFBB Pro James Hollingshead.

1) Describe your impression the first time you stepped into Kings Gym.

The first time I stepped into Kings Gym Croydon I was overwhelmed from the atmosphere! The gym was super busy and the music was blaring it was a sunny day and it just seemed like the perfect environment to have a great workout. The equipment looked good and the staff were really friendly along with all the gym members. Everyone was very welcoming.

2) When did you decide to relentlessly pursue competitive bodybuilding?

I first decided to compete when I met James Hollingshead in 2014. I was instantly inspired and shortly after I met him I went to watch him compete. He won the British National Finals in the Super Heavyweight Division. His face said it all! He was so happy, and I wanted to feel that same feeling. It was this day I decided I wanted to compete in Bodybuilding.

3) Competitive bodybuilding is a very unique and trying endeavor. What does this pursuit mean to you?

Bodybuilding means everything to me. It’s a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine living life without training. It gives me purpose in life and purpose when I enter the gym. The dedication and passion has always been there for me. I like the routine, I love seeing the progress in the gym and in my physique. I will be Bodybuilding for the rest of my life for sure.

4) Describe what your training approach takes physically and mentally.

Training for me now is much different since training with James under the watchful eye of Jordan Peters. I used to train very high volume with short rest periods but since I switched to lower volume and progressive overload training my physique has come on heaps and bounds, so I really thank James and Jordan for helping me transition into this type of training. Mentally you have to be willing to push yourself through the tough days when you're tired and you don’t feel like training. Pushing yourself through plateaus and just working harder and harder everyday and keep pushing towards the end goal. You have to be very strong minded to get very far in this sport especially if your not blessed with the best genetics.

5) What components are involved in making it to a world class level in Classic Bodybuilding?

Classic Bodybuilding is a beautiful side of Bodybuilding. The physique must be very aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as having great muscularity with shape and good lines. I think competitive classic Bodybuilding is quite dependent on a mans genetics due to the fact that you want that wide shoulder to small waist ratio. You must have great symmetry and all muscle groups must compliment themselves and must be well balanced. You must also have great presentation, you need to present your physique in a beautiful art form so the judges can look at your physique and admire the hard work you have put into it.

6) Describe the energy given and received between legit training partners such as James Hollingshead and yourself.

You have to have a great connection with your training partner. You have to be able to read them and know what they’re thinking so they don’t have to tell you. You must know when they’re reaching failure on an exercise and be able to judge how much help they require to still get maximal contractions out of forced reps. You have to uplift them on days when they’re not. Feeling great and most important of all you must motivate them to train as hard as they can and push themselves beyond their own abilities.

7) What is coming up for you in terms of competitions?

I am already a British National Champion in the classic division just losing out on overall for the pro Card by 1 point! The goal for me this year is to turn pro in the IFBB Pro league. I have an upcoming show this weekend in Spain which is the Big Man Weekend Show in April 28th! I will also be competing at the Toronto Pro Qualifier Show On May 31st. I may compete in other competitions but these are the two that are confirmed for now!

8) What does it take to be a professional in this sport?

I truly believe that in order to be a professional in this sport you need to start acting like a professional beforehand. How willing are you to keep strict and consistent on the nutrition and training during the off season and not get out of shape? Branch Warren always said that people tend to miss meals and not take their nutrition seriously during the off season and they’re losing out on a lot of muscular growth due to this and that’s one thing that both me and James take great pride in. We are willing to eat clean in the off season, do cardio everyday in the off season and stay on track with everything and the proof is sitting there when you look at the progress in our physiques.

Becoming A GASP Ambassador

We meet Russian Pro Bodybuilder Sergey Kulaev and ask him some questions to get to know him.

I was born in Gudermes, but the war started there and my parents moved to another place. Now I live in St. Petersburg, where I have established a family.

My height is 180 cm, weight in the off-season reaches 140 kg (309 lbs), competitive 120-121 kg (266 lbs).

Have you always been interested in training?

Yes, I always played sports to this I was taught by my father, he always said that I should be a strong and kind man, which is what happened. Well, bodybuilding is the one sport that I stuck with

In 2014, I first went to Arnold classic in the us and took 3rd place. In 2015, I already took 2nd place. Well, in 2016 I became the undisputed champion of Arnold classic among Amateurs, which allowed me to become a professional.

How is the local bodybuilding scene where you live?

Bodybuilding in Russia is developing very slowly, and the professional division grows very slowly, if we talk about the Amateurs there are a lot of good athletes, but not professionals .

Do you plan all training and diet by yourself?

My trainer lives in Kuwait, and he writes me a diet consisting mainly of fish, beef, chicken, rice, eggs and sweet potatoes, in Russia I eat more chicken, oatmeal, rice, and buckwheat.

When you're not training, what are you up to?

I have two jobs, the main one is as a coach at the fitness center where I train. I'm not fussy and can adjust to any conditions.

Do you have any upcoming competition plans?

My main focus now is to qualify for Mr. Olympia. I've got Chicago-Pro, and Tampa-Pro coming up and I am confident I'll qualify.

Meet Sergey Kulaev

Austin Haye, a dedicated GASP ambassador with a passion for those heavy lifts competed and won the Texas Strongest Man show this past weekend. His brother Sumner Haye was also one of the competitors and Austins 2 year old son Jack was one of the biggest fans there.

We asked Austin some questions about the show, and in particular how he felt about having his family there to support.

**Did having your son at the event influence your energy?

**Absolutely. Jack has been my biggest fan and loudest cheerleader since I first brought him to watch me compete earlier this year at the Ronnie Coleman Strongman Classic. Ever since, he’s been saying “Daddy ‘wift’ weights!” and asking me if I’m going to the gym to train with “Unkie” (his name for my younger brother and training partner, Sumner).

Seeing how excited he gets to watch me workout in the gym or compete makes me want to put forth that much more effort. There’s nothing to really compare it to until you have kids and they get really involved/start participating in your hobbies.

**Did being a dad influence your training leading up to the event?

**Yes – In both positive and negative ways, but mostly positive. The time I devote to training is minimal because I don’t want to miss out on too much time at home with him. I can manage off of 3 days of training per week which comes out to about 6-7hrs/week of training time.

This has actually been a really big benefit for me because it has forced me to allow my body to recover more than in the past when I was training 5-6 days a week (12-14hrs total). With more recovery I get injured a whole lot less and I don’t plateau as easily during training cycles.

The only negative influence I experience, and any parent can relate, is the lack of sleep that comes with just being a dad to a 2 year old. I wouldn’t change it for the world though.

**We got to the competition floor and as soon as we set our bags down, he was tugging on me to take him out on the floor so he could see what the other strongmen were doing and play with the implements.

Having to focus on him and not getting warmed up right away took the edge off at the beginning of the competition. There’s always a certain amount of nervousness that hits you as soon as you step foot on that floor and see everyone starting to warm up and get into their own competitive zone.

I’m usually right there with everyone else in terms of nerves being on fire, but with Jack there I have to focus on him and making sure he’s learning and having a good time while I get ready.

Having him there waiting for me on the sidelines in-between events really took the edge off things throughout the whole day because I would have to turn off the intensity and just be “daddy” again while I waited for the next event.

How was the atmosphere at Texas Strongest Man?

 Electric to say the least. The competition took place inside of the Europa Games Fit Expo, so we had spectators on all sides watching, filming, and cheering for us. Scott Brockelman and Jacob Fincher (North American Strongman Co-State Chairs – Texas) did a great job getting strongman into this event. Other than the Bang Energy booth, we were probably the biggest draw for spectators.

 The first event was the log clean a press for reps. The weight for my division was 270lbs. A lot of athletes in my division struggled with this event due to the size of the log that was used and the uneven surface we were standing on. I managed only 2 reps which put me in a 3-way tie for 1st.

The next event was the axle deadlift for reps. The weight for my division was 565lbs and I managed 10 reps in under 60 seconds. I only needed 8 to win the event, so I stopped at 10 reps with time to spare. I believe this was a rep PR for me at this weight. I don’t get to train axle that often, so it was good to see my heavy conventional deadlifting transfer over like that.

3rd event was the farmers walk. The weight for my division was 275lbs per hand and we had to carry it 50ft. The quickest time won the event. A lot of athletes struggled with the grip on the handles because they had been wrapped with tape and the tape was beginning to peel off. One of the guys in my division lost a fair amount of skin on his hand just trying to carry it. I managed 4th in this event.

Moving events have been a weakness for me since I started strongman, but lately I’ve been devoting more time to training them so that I’m not losing so many points.

The 4th event was the Mouser Block/sled drag medley. The block weighed 320lbs and you had to carry it 50ft and then pull a loaded sled back 50ft for the fastest time. The thing that competitors struggled the most with on this event was traction: The convention center floor was slick concrete, so pulling a sled backwards proved to be very difficult. Luckily, I’ve encountered this before at other comps and learned that if you dampen the soles of your shoes with water then you’ll be able to grip the ground better. This little trick paid off and I took 2nd in the event.

The last event was the sandbag carry for max distance. The sandbag weighed 250lbs. This event was brutal, especially being at the end of the day when your body is already fatigued, but I was ready. Sumner and I had been training this event with a keg, which is considerably harder to walk with for a long period of time than a sandbag. I believe training with the keg over the sandbag guaranteed me success on this event. I needed 225ft to win and I took it to 250ft and called it at that.

**Your brother got the number 2 spot, how did you feel about that?

**Sumner came in 2nd in the heavy weight division (231lbs and above). I was 1st in the middle weight division (231lbs and under). I was very proud of Sumner for his placing. Believe it or not, he was the lightest heavyweight competing weighing in at 260lbs. He was trading 1st and 2nd with the guy that ended up winning all day long – it was great to see him hang with some of the strongest guys in Texas.

**What did Mary (your wife) think of you all being together there?

**She loved it. It’s hard at times trying to juggle Jack or keep him from running on the floor during the competition, but overall I know she enjoys getting to make these memories as a family.

She deserves her own medal for being out there all day long when she’s 7 months pregnant, taking care of Jack, and making sure I’m eating, drinking, and stretching in-between events. She’s my secret weapon.

Were there any other highlights to the event?

Swedish Henrik Lindh has been a GASP ambassador for several years.

He currently lives in Marbella, Spain, so when CEO Michael Johansson was in town, he met Henrik for a catch up and a workout.

**I live by the saying “we live every day but only die once”. By that I mean that I set goals for myself and I complete them, instead of just dreaming.

**I’ve been fortunate to live in the USA an train at the best gym in the world, …destination Dallas Texas.

After returning from the U.S. I moved to Malta and currently I am living my deam life in Marbella. A life I, myself, have strived towards and created.

**What are your hobbies besides training?

**I’ve been competing since 2000, but the past few years have been the best in terms of placings both internationally and nationally.

I live training 24/7 but I always make sure to both have some “Yin and Yang” by also doing other things like sport fishing and bodybuilding.

Fishing is my biggest hobby, but bodybuilding is my lifestyle. However, both of these goes well hand in hand and I think that is why I’m still just as motivated to train and compete now as I was 10 years ago.

**What has motivated you to get where you are?

**I have always been an underdog with training and competing as I am very tall and I used to be very skinny.

That is what has fueled me as it made me want to prove that nothing is impossible if you work really hard. Usually those who say it is impossible, are people who are unable to reach their goals, or who aren’t even trying.

**I’m currently in a “bulk” phase and I am working hard to improve lagging muscle groups. Something I can guarantee is that I will show the best version of myself late summer 2020. And do you know why? Because I have made up my mind to do so!

**How does being a part of GASP affect you?

**To have a strong clothing brand backing me up isn’t only nice because I get to wear nice clothes. What I wear also makes me feel good and I get a “hardcore” feeling which rubs over on my training.

Let's meet Chinese bodybuilder and GASP Ambassador Cao Yu!

Hello GASP family! My name is Cao Yu, I am from China! I was born in 1982, I live in Beijing. Bodybuilding and training have always been my passion and love. I have been training for over 20 years and competing since 2012. I have won several national level bodybuilding competitions, for example, I won the first place in the 85kg division of an IFBB competition in Hong Kong in 2013.

I am so honored and proud to join the GASP family. I have been in love with GASP since day one. I love the relentless, no compromise training and lifestyle. GASP is a brand that is truly designed for dedicated athletes. The fit, the fabric and the look is just impeccable. For me, GASP is a belief and a totem. Now when I am officially a part of the family, I've reached my destination for a brand new start!

I am also a personal trainer, I own All Black Training Academy which holds a professional training camp every month, we limit the number of participants to 20 people to assure the quality.

Now the majority of the people around the world are in quarantine. Special times demand special ways to continue chasing our dreams. It’s all about how bad you want it. I am still preparing for the 2020 Olympia China which is planned to take place in Beijing in June. I’m doing everything I can to train, eat, rest and repeat.

Adversity reveals the true character of a person. Never lose sight of your goals no matter what the circumstances are. You should hang tight to what you truly love. Stay safe and hope this will be over soon.
